Co-resolution is an innovative alternative dispute resolution process that combines the resolution focus of mediation with direct party assistance commonly seen in advocacy roles such as attorneys in litigation.  Unlike mediation, in co-resolution, each party is provided with professional negotiation assistants/conflict coaches (“co-resolvers”) that are trained in mediation as well as other forms of alternative dispute resolution.  The coaches have a good working relationship with one another to allow for cooperative advocacy – ensuring the coaches do not engage in competitive tactics or manipulative strategies commonly used in litigation. The co-resolvers assist the parties in advocating his/her position and interests at the negotiation table, while helping them focus on reaching a resolution that meets both parties’ needs to avoid having to resort to litigation.

This process is especially helpful in high conflict family law related matters (e.g., divorce, custody, etc.), neighbor disputes and inter-family disputes, as well as matters where one party feels he/she (or the other party) needs the additional support of a coach to help him/her express themselves to more effectively negotiate.
